The idea of having a phone, in a students perspective, sounds great, but the real reason students would be allowed to have them is for research during school or emergencies. Lets look at this idea from a teachers perspective. Teachers would have to be on their A game watching out for suspicious things a clever student might do with his/ her phone. Say that there is a test in the morning and the teacher needs to go get something and leaves the room, with the test and children in it. Say a student walks up and takes a picture of that test. That student now has control over what is on that test and who he/she sends it to. Teachers have no way of preventing that from happening.
Teachers can't always be at the same spot, at the same time, on the same day if a student decides to do something tricky with his/ her phone. In the students shoes, we think it might be a great idea to do something like attempting to cheat on something. If students were allowed to have their phones in school, the phone would ONLY act as a source to search and look up much needed things during the school day.
Most of the time, young students don't see the danger or consequences they could have if they make a wrong decision one time and get caught. Don't get me wrong, most students do make good even great decisions all the time, but that second they decide to do something wrong, they don't realize how much things can be taken away from them. Going back to my topic yesterday, Teachers are here to help you not harm you.
